„All of a sudden you are in a space where you’re no longer mentally alert, and you think how are you going to fit anything else in your head!”– Pamela
Some men and women we have spoken to have described having a ‘fuzzy head’, which has been termed ‘chemo-brain’, and being unable to concentrate on their normal activities, conversations, and tasks. It should be noted that difficulties with attention and concentration can occur even if you don’t have chemotherapy. This can be very frustrating, but try to keep in mind that this is a temporary symptom that will resolve for most people within a year. It may also help to note that these difficulties are not usually detectable on formal memory tests.
We also know that fatigue, pain, depression and anxiety can all impair concentration and memory, so these factors may be contributing to your experience of chemo-brain. If you have any of these symptoms, it’s worth getting them investigated and addressed too.
